I would be surprised if that were the case. Even from a clipped-in stop (it's called a "trackstand"), to beat a fast car that was going all out would require a very short time, indeed. No more than two seconds, at best (a Model 3 does 0-60mph in about 3.1 seconds). Probably more like 1.5...
How rare or common is the condition of racing a fast car going all out driven by a driver intending to race from a stoplight?

Probably about as common as a cyclist doing the same...

Well, I’m unsurprised to see that loser Ken took time out from whining about his car and his job to ban KR.

He’s let human offal like bauer, Mondo, GOG,
SES and DFM smear up his board for years, and driven away poster after poster. But like me, KR called out the garbage and nonsense and lies, so it became HIS fault and he was the one who got canned.

Utterly predictable if disgusting. The sad decline of a once-enjoyable board continues apace. Kudos for your efforts, KR.

Consider the source. Mongo is banned everywhere but on his OWN board. GOG is frequently banned from every board but WW. The sheer hypocrisy of certain people dissing him for doing EXACTLY what they do is deafening. Glass houses and all that jazz.

KR is welcome on Blue and has been a member for a couple of years. He has so far always behaved appropriately. That's more than can be said for those dissing him. However, he has NOT always behaved on R&E or other boards. So, there's that.

I pointed out to GOG that KR doesn't actually post here (at least not more than a handful of times, and not at all recently). No idea if that will get through. I also pointed out that KR mostly just trolls right-wingers. On some forums, that's all he does. On others, there is substantive posting. He used to post quite a bit more on non-political-bickering matters (car stuff, etc.), but it's been a long time, and mostly on Mondo's board.

I think KR's participation on message boards has been distilled down to just a narrow range of participation, something I understand perfectly. I recently returned to posting anything at all by trying to get some substantive, on-topic conversation going on R&E, which failed miserably. Not unexpected in the attempt that involved bauer (the only person posting on-topic, so I had little choice), and probably no less predictable with that Devo person who used to do drive-by anti-evolution one liners on woodbine's. Hilariously, he accused me of posting "strawmen," a term he clearly doesn't know how to correctly define (my posts contained no representation of others' arguments at all, to say nothing of false ones that I subsequently critiqued). Another waste of time... *sigh* The rest of the board is politics. Most of it of the permitted variety, but no more interesting to me (or truly on-topic) than the blatantly prohibited stuff.

Ah, well...at least I got to talk about soccer a little here. ;) And I remain very pleased by the fact that Mondo and I were able to end a truly toxic feud and become cordial with each other. Hating people you've never met is bad for the psyche.

To me only Sia’s membership-based board is remotely tolerable. Especially when White and Yellow are so miserably populated and moderated (with the exception of Trish, of course). When anyone can post as anyone, chaos is pretty much the inevitable result, as the late Woodbine board showed.

I have, of course, no trouble detesting people I’ve never met, which is why I’d never again want to be on boards as full of those people as White and Yellow. A monkey house at the zoo is an English gentleman’s club, by comparison.

Agreed: required log-in (w/ account registration approval necessary) is the the only way to avoid the usual message forum free-for-all and to enforce topical posting where that's desired.

I don't mind detesting people I've never met, either (I'm an insufferably arrogant bitch, remember?)...but I think I've learned to make it a rather impersonal thing...despising what they say and what they seem to stand for. When online hatred becomes personal (as we see a lot of and of which I've been guilty in the past), that's when I think it's really poisonous. I just don't want to be that weary and constantly pissed off any more, and I already have to deal with today's effed-up America on that front. I don't need social media reinforcing it.

Just a general update. I have informed Ken (hi Ken if you are here) that I am not allowing JB to continue his lies and insults of other posters. His "why does nobody here want to discuss" and "you don't know anything" etc. ... well, it's just over the top. It does not foster discussion and I have warned him his posts WILL be deleted if he continues. I feel bad for KR, as he was just calling people on their sh*t. So now I will call them on it.

I see he’s over there now taunting people about their ‘knowledge’ and the mysterious thing he calls ‘spiritual logic,’ which Poppet commented on very clearly.

Bauer’s problem is that he apparently doesn’t even understand what people have argued with him about. He thinks it’s ‘denial’ of his alphabet soup of near-death experiences, headed by NDEs. But no one’s ever debated seriously that such experiences don’t exist.

His problems are that a) he thinks such experiences are supernatural, and b) he thinks they ‘prove’ religion, God, and an afterlife to be true. And yet the very fact that he claims them to be supernatural pretty much prevents any rational discussion of them as proof (a concept he just doesn’t get, anyway). And if you call him on this, he just goes back to citing the number of cases of NDEs, etc.

I have to assume he’s serious about this, if unstable, because no one would troll on one subject for 20 years. That’s beyond monomania..

Idk if they're Gay and don't care. They're both religious zealots convinced they're right and everybody else is wrong.
KR gave back what they initiate, then puppeteer and troll. If he is given time out, they should too for the same reason.
KR is one of a few who don't have DNRs against either B or G, and who regularly responds to them.
The fact we're all here on this obscure board means we're all independent mavericks and some kind of throwback relics of the days of MSN boards.

News to me. I quit looking in some time back. Good riddance, given what he turned it into. At least one other board I can think of which should join it in oblivion.

I saw Devolution on Ken’s board, had long wondered if he was a Woodbine sockpuppet. Same with the guy who wondered if people were ‘homosexuals.’ Could have been Mark, the Aussie guy, I suppose..

That Devo guy had been posting anti-evolution drive-bys (just a line or two, never actually engages) on woodbines for a long time. Not sure they're a sock. Knows jack about logic, in any case...

"Drivebys" are the stock behavior of most sockpuppets that I've ever seen.

Plus the fact that they'd disappear when Woodbine was MIA and reappear around the time that Woodbine would suddenly appear and clean up the joint.

The DNR is one option of stopping unwanted repetition of the same old ridicule and garbage from certain people who don't have the common sense to know when to stop, short of leaving the board altogether.

While Poppet is correct that bauer is one of the few who sticks to topic, that is no encouragement. Bower doesn't want to discuss religion. He proselytizes HIS religion, and any "discussion" with him quickly develops his self proclaimed superiority to you or anybody else. When you question him, even quoting him verbatim, he's quick to call you a liar. He offers "proofs" that are no more proofs than buttermilk is a plastic aspirin bottle. He has ZERO respect for anyone else's opinion or point of view.

GOG is so irrational and mentally ill, he entirely lost grasp and sight of truth. I DNRed him because he would not stop diagnosing my long covid and calling my doctors part of a huge conspiracy.

Deanna is incapable of anything more than "LOLOLOL!!!! Poor thing!!!" and blanket ridicule of anything and everything Democrat. In her words, there's no such thing as an intelligent Democrat. She is incapable of sight through party and partisanship to the intelligence and merits of an individual.

Ken and Trish have their hands full in effort to moderate a board of trolls, and that includes me when I post there. There is no doubt religion and politics invites trolls. What happened to and on the board proves why those topics are avoided in real life social gatherings.

No, they really don’t. I don’t mean any offense to anyone, but you could moderate that board by spending 20 minutes or so in the morning, and an equal amount of time in the evening. The board cycles VERY slowly; and only one page at a time (at most!) needs moderation. Look down the list of posts for new ones, pay particular attention to problem children, simply delete problem posts without explanation unless they are repetitive attacks, or some sort of harassment or rule-breaking.

It’s not that hard to do, surely. A fast-moving board would be different. And you have to warn problem posters, occasionally suspend one, and take down threads like OU812’s recent in-your-face challenge of Ken’s authority.

I got banned for life for that. You have to be CONSISTENT, too…smh

Ok, you may not have meant offense, but Ken has very little time due to his job. I have very little time due to my work and my husband.

If I have a choice between 20 minutes of very rare "me time" and 20 minutes on the board, I will always choose the latter. I am also offline some days completely. Plus, neither of us gets paid for our efforts. Most times, we just get complaints and assumptions. Then there are those lovely folk who want to tell me how to moderate. Seriously?

I will post an explanation as a reminder to certain individuals (DFM and politics or JB and NDE, for example). It acts as a head's up. Should I feel a poster needs a time out or a ban, those posts go in an email to Ken so he can see the frequency and make his decision. I have no power in the outcome.

Sometimes I have to go back and forth between the "answers" and the original post to get the gist of things, see if someone's gone way off-topic, etc. I depend heavily on people emailing me. It's more helpful than you may think. You cannot just look at thread titles. People hide sh*t inside all the time. Then there are questionable posts that aren't cut and dry regarding board rules. I check with Ken on these. Oh, and don't forget checking links to see what THEY have hidden in them.

I miss things, too. Shrug.
