The work melds together Mount Evans, west of Denver, and the Sand Creek Massacre in these ways.
John Evans was the territorial governor at the time, and quietly authorized the attack, carried out by Chivington. Afterward, he condoned it as necessary. The massacre site 150 miles to the east is "almost" visible from the summit of the mountain, and the mountainm 150 miles to the west, is "almost" visible from the massacre site. Evans is one of the four great mountains first visible to travelers arriving from the plains, along with Pikes Peak, Long's Peak, and the Spanish Peaks. There is a movement to rename Mt. Evans to Rosalie, as painter Albert Bierstadt called it. The Evans family owns much land around Mt. Evans and remains powerful. So it it unlikely the movement will succeed.

As always, beautiful music and scenery. I suppose folks can call it Rosalie all they want, even if officially, it's not.
Isn't it wicked cool how you can post a video inside the forum and not have to click on links that take us outside of it?
