Last time he was the largest DNR holder, Ken limited him to a maximum of 8.  He had the nerve to email me asking me to drop mine (then) so that he could DNR someone else (I think that it was that Australian gal whose name I just can't bring to mind right now, but she'd add "plur" sometimes).  He actually claimed he'd be "nice" to me and stop the attacks if I did. I just laughed at him and said NO! 

AS IF.

My heart is heavy and sad with reinstallment of the DNR. The balance tipped by weaponization of my words generically written to provoke thought about this endless animosity, freud, and senseless name calling, to attack other people.

At about the same time I directly responded to mf about SJW/Mugwump, that he reconsider that animosity, only to read his response was disrespectful of both the Curtis Institute and a successful graduate of its program. If mf respects or respected me for my musicianship enough to end hostility, then why not consider it for SJW who likely is a finer musician than me?

He sought SJW's identity for what purpose? Although SJW never shared his ID with me, I have a pretty good idea who he is, and will protect his right to privacy. He especially doesn't deserve to have somebody snooping through his real ID with potentially damaging and malicious intent. "Friends" don't do that. 

Mf is followed by a literal horde of people he wronged. In exchange with mf, they ALL degrade quality of the board and discussion, and in some cases that is the dominant, inescapable theme of multiple threads and the board itself. Occasionally he posted a "Hey Pikes..." thread with a topic of interest to me. I was glad for that. But we had little to no conversation. I'd reply and then... nothing. I wanted conversation, because it is on and with that, friendships are cemented and deepen.

I could not help but notice almost everything Merlin posted drew mf criticism. They're both to blame for that degradation. Sometimes I think Merlin posts those NYT pieces to deliberately draw mf response. Their frequency is dominant and always predictable. I stayed out of it. Same for when he went after Sia and this somewhat executive session board. But every time that happened, a little more of that "friendship" died in me. It became clear he preferred that to the peaceful pursuit of common and uplifting topics. Weaponization of my words to sew division and separation was not something from which I could be silent, or look the other way. I didn't do what I did because I wanted that. It was forced. 

Here forward, I want and hope to be wholly silent about all this. Not mention it at all, anywhere. I hope mf does the same, so real consequential action can die before we do. All that just added fuel to a fire that should never have been ignited. 

BTW, Merlin has ALWAYS posted from the NYT.  ALWAYS.  Going back more than 20 years.  That has basically nothing to do with mondo.  He'd post them whether mondo was there or not.

That's just sad.

This ongoing "fight" dominated boards and lived far too long.

I can totally see not "starting" something here by copying things that have virtually nothing to do with US and trashing him over it because that is not at all helpful and is destructive, as you've noted.

However, when he deliberately attacks us on his board, calling us names, trashing us and copying OUR WORDS, and making up ridiculous, libelous, filthy LIES -- about me, in particular, THAT IS ON HIM !!

NOT ONCE DID I ASK YOU TO CHOOSE A SIDE nor did I get angry at you for not doing so.  I knew and understood why you were unwilling to offer any defense of me.
