Given that the majority of posters on this board behave execrably and considering Ken doesn't get paid for this (save perhaps for a small amount of AdSense revenue, which would be limited by the board's very light traffic), asking him to stem the tide of asshattery seems a bit unreasonable. But I suppose expecting posters to act in good faith and conduct themselves as if actual discussion were a priority is even less reasonable. It is ever this with political forums...

If you actually read my (and other) posts, you'd not only have observed this, but the fact that I came increasingly under attack from the Spoiled Children - Mongo, CE0802, gTg, Dara, and others. Insults, smears, personal attacks - NONE seemed to want anything like personal discussions. ALL seemed to want to drive any non-compliant poster off the board.

For awhile I called them on this, asked why they violated rules, asked why they made everything personal..and I thought it was getting better.  Then it just went south again, as an entire new series of Mongo-led personal attacks broke out.

It got to the point where I top-posted a call-out of Mongo and asked Ken why he didn't have to obey the rules POSTED AT THE TOP OF THE DAMN BOARD. I posted his reply here - he blamed ME and said 'Well, maybe if YOU were better, there would be enforcement of the rules.' That's Ken's idea of moderating a damn board.

So do I blame him? YOU BET I BLAME HIM. And I blame posters like you, who continue to let him off, aid and abet his incompetence, his laziness, his failure and his biases.  Hell, you yourself give Mongo a pass at every opportunity, post to him, post on his board. You treat him like the 'decent poster' he is incapable of being.

So don't tell me about Ken. KEN IS THE PROBLEM.  And Ken's supporters as well.

I agree, Trish, that it wasn't directed at me.

But 'I feel for Ken' is part of the problem which I  described.  Ken is the operator of at least THREE boards. Why does he do that if he can't handle the job?  Even ONE board?  No one makes him operate even ONE board. Putting up rules and randomly enforcing them, or not at all,  doesn't make those boards a good experience!

Like you, I used to support R & E religiously. It was well-run, generally orderly, and Ken was respected. I respected him.

Then came the blow-up - a seven-month ban over a trivial disagreement with GOG (who was not punished). A 'lifetime' ban without warning at the end of that. I've never seen him the same way since.  Over and over I've tried to deal fairly with him on his boards  only to find I wasn't welcome.

Meanwhile, the biggest ASSHAT on Boardhost, Mongo, received consistently preferential treatment.  It's partly Ken, partially Mongo.  But it's ridiculous and unfair. Again, I'm not the only victim of this. Hell,'Gustavo' is over there complaining, too. He's not the only other one who is resentful of Ken.

I suppose it doesn't matter, in the sense I will never, EVER post on a Ken Chanaud board again. It's just disappointing that he and Mongo still  have defenders.
