I gave it a try...I really did. I tried posting again over on R&E, responding to bauer (there's a reason for that I'll get into below) in a measured, substantive manner. He was failing to recognize a matter of logic, specifically that it cannot apply directly to "things" (that is, phenomena) but to statements about things, be they propositions, equations, etc. Not unpredictably, he completely misunderstood the point, hilariously accused me of lack of understanding of a basic point of logic (that a proposition containing a fallacy may still be true), despite my stating precisely that in the post he was responding to. I upbraided him for not reading with care, and he then responded with his usual tangential flailing. I called him on that nonsense, then signed off for good from that forum.
So why respond to bauer? Well...he's basically the only poster left there who posts on-topic. I realize off-topic posts that don't fall within a narrowly-defined category of politics are permitted, and I'm not complaining about that. I just have no interest in responding to those posts, nor to the avalanche of (very) thinly-disguised political posts. That leaves bauer, and as we all know, it's impossible to conduct a rational, adult conversation with him (either because he's literally incapable of it or he's the most effective deliberate troll ever...and it doesn't matter in the least to me which it is).
So I guess I'm finally completely done there. I don't post on Blue, either (politics and Wordle, neither of which I'm into), but I do have a look now and then, a vestige of my sense of responsibility as a mod, I guess. Obviously I wish you all well!

Bahai Bauer broke open a fortune cookie to read, "be a troll today on R&E" on the flip side it read "be a troll today on R&E." He flipt that fortune for years, and appears unable to do anything else. Read him once and you know him for years. Not only does he write of almost nothing but Bahai, the moment anyone else responds, Bauer is set to prove he knows more, and you, the other poster, know less or nothing. The moment you pin him down to what he wrote, you are accused of being a liar. Who needs to pass through that experience more than once?
I am not much into cut and paste posts either. I am more interested in what the poster writes or believes. Ethics are almost inseparable from politics, where the abundance of unethical practice runneth over like a toilet clogged with too much solid and paper.

You do know that anytime you want to introduce a topic that interests you on Blue that you are encouraged and most welcome to post whatever it might be.

No one could doubt your seriousness in discussion of such questions, or Bauer’s failure to do so. Of course as you know, discussion’s not his real aim, whether by design or due to mental issues (my personal feeling).
I had planned to leave here, had left in fact, but admit that I like Wordle and enjoyed discussing it here. And as it’s a board with like-minded people politically, and discussion is well-moderated, I decided to hang around awhile. Especially after Woodbine’s former board went away.
Best wishes, and I add my support to you posting non-political stuff here anytime you like. We could use more of that!
ps - I am, however, still miffed at Portland’s last-second comeback against the Crew. Aarrggh!

I can’t argue the point that Bauer’s the most on-topic poster over there, either. I count nine threads on the current page which are all, to a greater or lesser degree, political. This despite Trish’s best efforts to enforce the rules, even over protests by the likes of DFM.

I should probably have made it clear: I don't in any way object to the Wordle threads...people are having fun with them! They just don't interest me because I don't play.
That late stoppage time goal was amazing. The "substitution ploy" to try and waste time backfired on Porter: the goal was scored in the 30 seconds they always add for a substitution. Oops. Not sure if the Timbers will make the playoffs, though...we'll find out soon enough. Thorns clinched the playoffs last night and are at the top of the table with two games left...but only by one point. Win out, and they win the Shield.

I don't either. I just don't play because the last thing I need at this time is "another thing." This long covid makes me just not want to do anything. Everything is an effort... and I am back on stage this season with a ton of new music to learn, hiking with Harry and bowling in two leagues. I was distracted by the horrible new Space Force music, dabbling with something better. But I realize a misguided idea deserves exactly what music they got. I have to clean my plate before I am ready to try something else. I enjoyed the Avalanche winning the Stanley Cup, and the Bronco's are still finding new ways to lose. Good to hear you are well.

THAT is what you should post about. Your favorite sports teams or individual sports. Surely others are interested (I'm not, but so what?)
There's no discussion of sports on any of the boards with any regularity, so create it for yourselves like greenman did with Woodbine. The boards are OURS to use as we see fit. So go for it.
I have no doubt that some philosophy and ethics discussions would be welcomed too. People who frequent these boards like to chat about stuff, so toss out a topic that isn't politics and have some fun!

See that? There's THREE of you who enjoy sports. No doubt others do too. So, start a discussion about whatever sports are happening during any given season and talk a/o argue about it.

Well, that covers my discussion of sports for the year!
I enjoy the Reader's Digest version of NFL and college football on You Tube. These are refined down to the important plays in sequence, without the ten minutes of advertisements endured to watch two minutes of game.
The ad selling some kind of digital streaming mixing Housewives with Football has a 0.633 second moment of truth, when a player runs into a stunning Mealnia-like housewife, is hurled to the ground, and she looks down and says...
"whoops."

Understandable about Wordle, it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.
As to football,I saw someone on line suggest of Crew and former Timbers coach Porter ‘This is why we fired him.’ Not sure if that’s so, or what his problems were there, but certainly his seat’s gotten hotter here as the draws continue to mount and our playoff chances weaken.
Glad to see the Thorns are doing well. Women’s footy in general is getting to be a big thing, worldwide! Lots of websites for teams like the Spurs support their women’s teams and do a lot of articles about them.

yet more proof that Mongo's claims of visiting here rarely are false.
His descriptions of people have been (and still are) far worse than most of what I read here IMO. The falsehoods he lays about about them are even worse.

If I remember correctly, Porter wasn't fired. He quit rather unexpectedly after the conclusion of a successful(-ish season), termed a "mutual decision." Most local speculation was that he and owner Merritt Paulson weren't seeing eye-to-eye on some things. I liked him...feisty, and he took us to our first MLS Cup (so far!).
Thorns look to be peaking at the right time. It's taken a while for new coach Rhian Wilkinson to find her feet (she made some truly baffling experimental moves early on), but the team is playing well. I seldom miss a home match, so that's going to leave a bit of a hole in my sports world when I relocate! I have a Tokyo team in the WE League (women's first division in Japan) I already support: Verdy Beleza. But I'm actually considering spending most of the first couple of years in Sapporo, partly to acclimate to the climate (Sapporo is much milder in the summer; Tokyo has nasty summers) and partly because that's where my business acquisition is physically located and being physically present more often looks good for my eventual permanent residence visa application (lol). No, I'm not buying Sapporo Brewing. I don't have that kind of money! No women's team in Sapporo, at least not in the first or second division. There's a men's side to support, fortunately.

His own freakish posters are (other than his little dog GOG) bored with his whining about this board, but ‘nonetheless, he persists.’
If anyone were ‘shut down,’ old man (especially for ‘bullying’) it’d be you. I’d have made that complaint against you already - if I were as big a p——y as you are. Maybe just keep on trying to enlist GOG into that threesome you fantasize about…lol

People on Mondo's forum bash electric cars, but I wonder how many of them have tried driving one. I get to spend about 40 hours a week driving a Tesla Model 3 long range with two motors. It's quick, quiet and very fun to drive. I have to be gentle with the acceleration pedal so I don't scare my passengers. Mine is almost as quick as the performance model in this video:

Well THAT looks like fun! I love fast cars! I also like the sound of acceleration in gas powered cars.
I would just ignore those criticizing electric cars. They don't own one so what do they know anyway?

Your bicycle in the right gearing prolly accelerates 0 to 20mph even faster. I assume you use toe clips so you can muscle the upstroke as well?
When I rode in traffic, I developed balance technique to come to a full stop, stand and stay in the pedals until the light turned green, and then rip that acceleration. Cars could not keep up. I bet you do that!

I would be surprised if that were the case. Even from a clipped-in stop (it's called a "trackstand"), to beat a fast car that was going all out would require a very short time, indeed. No more than two seconds, at best (a Model 3 does 0-60mph in about 3.1 seconds). Probably more like 1.5...

How rare or common is the condition of racing a fast car going all out driven by a driver intending to race from a stoplight?
